DEDICATED TO SADIE, A SMART, LOVABLE LITTLE LADY

Pixie

Shrek

Two new additions to the household. Pixie and Shrek came from a friend and both knew Sadie well.
It looks like they are fitting in well and are very happy.

LILY

Lily a 3 year old Shih Tzu adopted from a dog rescue. She came to the family only 3 weeks ago to
help fill the huge empty spot left by Sadie. She started fitting in right away like she knew she had a home.
Unfortunately there was something wrong with her health and she died under the care of her vet
a mere two weeks after finding her home.
Sweet Lily deserved to enjoy the happiness of a loving home much longer than she did.

JUNE 25 2010

SADIE PASSED AWAY QUIETLY IN HER SLEEP FROM ASTHMA RELATED PROBLEMS.
THE LOVING LITTLE LADY WILL BE MISSED BY ALL WHO KNEW HER INCLUDING ALL HER DOG FRIENDS.

SHE WAS A BIG PART IN TRAINING OTHER DOGS, A SORT OF TRANSLATOR THAT SET THE EXAMPLE FOR THOSE IN TRAINING
 AS WELL AS
HER ABILITY TO ACT AS A GLUCOSE LEVEL METER FOR MARY'S DIABETES.
SHE WAS MUCH MORE THAN JUST A PET OR A MEMBER OF THE FAMILY, SHE WAS AN INSPIRATION.

THIS SITE WILL CONTINUE IN HER HONOUR.

SADIE'S BIO

Poodle/terrier mix
Born approx March 2001
Very sweet, gentle and affectionate
When we first met Sadie we felt a very strong connection. About a week after we met Sadie she became one of us and has blessed us ever since. I always say she is a Bundle of Love.

One 'talent' that Sadie has had from a very early age, is the ability to detect when my wife Mary's sugar level is off (she is diabetic) and lets Mary know that it is time to take action.

Although Sadie was basically always a pleasure to be around she did have a few issues that would keep us on our toes.

1. She was definitely not trained for the leash and it would always be a physically demanding experience to walk her.
2. She reacted very strongly whenever she encountered another dog - especially larger dogs.
3. She would also react very very strongly around some loud sounds, for example, when the smoke and fire alarms are tested each month (we live in a high-rise).

I stumbled across Cesar Millan's tv show - The Dog Whisperer, and the first episode I watched dealt with leash walking. I was sceptical after watching the show but decided to try out what I learned from the show. Within 10 seconds Sadie was very well behaved on the leash and has been a pleasure to walk with ever since. I remember after the first ten seconds of that walk that she looked up at me as if to say "it's about time we got this right - what took you so long?" I also remember that moment as the instant when the realization hit me that Sadie already knew all this stuff and that it was me who had to get with the program. I quickly became a really big fan of Cesar Millan, the Dog Whisperer.

For quite sometime now I have been a student of Cesar's online course 'Sessions With Cesar' and we now have an excellent relationship with Sadie that has surpassed anything I ever dreamed about. I continue to learn more about myself every day from Sadie and the Dog Whisperer. I very highly recommend 'Sessions with Cesar' to anyone who has a dog or even just loves dogs. You owe it to your dog and to yourself to study Cesar's way.
